Description
Overlooking Cape Cod Bay in Brewster, the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History owns 85 acres of salt water marsh, woods and a major herring run, which abuts about 300 acres of conserved marsh, uplands and seashore owned by the towns of Brewster and Dennis. Monomoy Island, a barrier beach environment and an historic lighthouse, the only declared wilderness area in southern New England, became another teaching environment under contract with the USDA Fish and Wildlife. These land holdings, and our invaluable collections, provide primary laboratories for teaching environmental science and natural history to Cape Cod's residents, visitors and tourists.
