Description
Breakwater Beach can be found just a short drive off of Route 6A in the center of Brewster. This beach, found on the Cape Cod Bay, is a popular spot for families to come. Dunes border the white sandy beach, and the water is warm and great to swim in. At a comfortable 65-70 degrees in the summer, it can seem quite the treat. As with other Brewster beaches, the flats are amazing at low tide. They extend for almost a mile out into the bay, making Breakwater Beach a perfect playground for children to explore the tidal pools, looking for small fish, shells, and crabs, and other marine life. Beachgoers should be familiar with the tide times, as the water rushes in quickly at high tide. There are no lifeguards present at Breakwater Beach. Portable toilets are located in the parking lot. Although there is no snack bar, an ice cream truck will visit to offer snacks and refreshments. Also, the Brewster General Store, located on 6A at the intersection of Breakwater Road, can provide customers with many beach goers desires. Parking permits are available at the Brewster town hall, a mile away. The cost is $5 for residents, and for non-residents it is $8 per day, $25 a week, $45 for two weeks or $75 for the season.
