Description
We offer several cruises on Beautiful Moosehead Lake including one to the resort of Mt. Kineo and our foliage cruises starting in September through the first of October. Come aboard the Katahdin for a leisurely cruise where you will enjoy the wonder of the natural beauty and history of Moosehead Lake. The Katahdin is a National Historic Landmark and was built in 1914 at the Bath Iron Works and was converted to diesel and is now a final link to a bygone era when there was a fleet of fifty boats steaming across the lake carrying passengers, livestock, mail, supplies and equipment to the large resorts, hunting camps and villages on Moosehead Lake. In 1976 the Moosehead Marine Museum was established with the Katahdin as its main exhibit. The Museum has an extensive collection of steamboat memorabilla and photos of the Moosehead area and is dedicated to preserving the grand days of steamboating and the maritime heritage of the Moosehead Lake Region. For additional information regarding the cruise schedule and Museum hours please call 207 695 2716 or e mail us Katahdincruise@ctel.net
