Description
The Aptucxet Trading Post-this is the beginning of the free enterprise system in America, where Pilgrims first began trading with the local Wampanoag Indians and English speaking Dutch from New York. This is an extraordinary look at how the first settler's conducted business. Gray Gables Railroad Station-President Grover Cleveland called his home in Bourne Gray Gables, and the railroad station constructed for his use is still here. The Jefferson Windmill-Joseph Jefferson was a celebrated actor in the late 19th century, and also an artist. He built a full-size replica of a Dutch windmill for use as a studio, which is now the Historical Society's gift shop. Jonathan Bourne Historical Center-includes a late 19th century reading room, and exhibition gallery with changing exhibits.
