Description
When the first commercial contract was signed in North America, Aptucxet Trading Post became the first private enterprise to use a local currency known as "Wampum". "Wampum" is a polished fragment of a hard shelled clam containing a purple color. The native Indians called these clams quahogs. The museum is open to the general public and features interesting collections and artifacts of the native Americans. Call 508 759 9487 for information and schedules.
